Automotive Business Millimetre-wave radar compatible emblems Product Detail

Millimetre-wave radar compatible emblems

By constructing emblems, the "face" of the brand, using insert moulding with a metallised printing film (metal-free) with added three-dimensional shapes to avoid interference with millimetre waves, we have added the function of a millimetre-wave radar cover.

Main Applications

There are several methods for sensing devices essential for ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems) such as pre-collision braking, unintended acceleration prevention control, and adaptive cruise control (ACC), which are installed in the rapidly spreading ASV (Advanced Safety Vehicle), including infrared lasers and optical cameras. One of the mainstream methods is millimetre-wave radar. This is a high-performance product that combines the function of a vehicle emblem with the function of a cover for the millimetre-wave radar installed behind the emblem.

Metal-free and compatible with millimetre-wave radar

Metal-free and compatible with millimetre-wave radar

The ideal mounting position for the millimetre-wave radar unit is the centre of the front of the vehicle. However, by constructing the emblem located in the centre of the vehicle's front grille using insert moulding with a metallic-print film, making it metal-free and adding the function of a radar cover, it has become possible to mount the radar unit in its ideal position, further contributing to the overall safety of the system. Furthermore, the use of no metal also enhances recyclability.

High design, high weather resistance, high performance

High design, high weather resistance, high performance

Using advanced insert moulding technology, the metallic-print film, shaped into a three-dimensional form, is integrated with the resin cover without positional deviation, achieving a three-dimensional, high-design appearance. Additionally, a hard coat with high weather resistance is applied to the surface of the resin cover to ensure durability and weather resistance. Furthermore, it clears the necessary performance levels for automotive exterior parts and safety function parts, such as pedestrian impact safety, at a high standard.

Millimetre-wave radar compatible emblems, which traditionally used special metals (indium), are now realised using film insert moulding technology without the use of metal, contributing to safety and the environment.

Responsible for the mass production technology development of new products. "This is a process that embodies the essence of Nanbu Kasei's technology, including three-dimensional shaping of metallic printed film, positional deviation correction for designs, positional deviation correction for insert moulding, guaranteed peeling, and automated lines. As the demand for improved automotive safety continues to grow, I am proud to contribute to the safety of society by manufacturing components with sensing functions."

Frequently Asked Questions

Q

Are there any insert moulded products other than metallic printed film?

A

We have insert moulded products such as Honmoku sheets and decorative printed films.

In addition to metallic printed films, we also offer insert moulded products using decorative printed films such as Honmoku sheets and wood-grain patterns. Furthermore, we can also handle insert moulded products for FPCs (Flexible Printed Circuits).

Q

When using film, can products of any shape be made?

A

There are some shape restrictions, but we will realise your requirements as much as possible.

Due to the differing characteristics of the films used, there are shape restrictions. However, through discussions with you, we will make various proposals to realise your desired shape as much as possible.
